just a quick note

there is really a lot to say. my prayer journal, written with a real pen has been filling up...but i've been distracted by a very busy schedule, a tooth ache, and the cool autumn mornings, so blogging has taken a back seat. I just found a post, while surfing the blog waves, that I need to study more, so I am hyperlynking it here. I'm not sure how many of my old "friends" who use to like to try to convince me that if I didn't believe in predestination and election I wasn't really a believer, still stop by, but this article might interest them too.

Uh who said you weren't really a believer?
Sort of like the accusation that I taught Moses didn't write Scripture,
when I constantly bring up John 5:37-47 to the emergent nitwits who try to disparage Scripture by separating Jesus the WORD, from the Word. The Bible does teach predestination. It teaches complete divine omniscinece, which includes complete prescient knowledge, or God is not omniscient. It is a fallacious argument to try and make that an exclusively calvinist doctrine.
Also, Arminius would cringe to see what his adherents have done to his theological stance.
As for the post you linked to. Where is Scripture in the argument? I see the thoughts of the Church fathers, which are not infallible, (a roman trait) and a lot of opinions, (another rc trait)
Sola Scriptura, all else is subordinate to the Scriptures.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on the article...I have not had a chance to read it in its entirety yet, but will soon. Hope school is going well.

Chris, you do tend to take things personally that are not meant to be taken personally. And you do seem to have a selective memory.
As far as your question about who said I wasn't really a believer...are heretics believers?
If one believes a heresy are they believers? If I were in the mood to check my archieves, I'd find several commentors who thus accused me. Not to mention some of the commentors on slice who commented on my comments. I once had a pastor come up to me and say "It's been brought to my attention that you do not believe in the Sovereignty of God"

No offense but how many "old friends" in this area have even debated this with you?
I did not say that your blog is about me, but this reference would include me. My memory is just fine, and in fact better than most.
I was unjustly accused of saying things I never said.

You support a form of open theism, so I would also doubt your definition of God's sovreignty.
A God who is not totally prescient is not totally omniscoent. Therefore He is not the God of scripture.
Who might this pastor be? Of course you won't say,as christians are famous for bringing up that "other" church or pastor from somewhere out there, but we aren't going to mention names.
Then I say don't bring it up.

What do you mean by "this area". Do you mean the blog? or new mexico? or this particular topic?
What difference does it make to you or anyone else who that pastor was? I've had a lot of pastors in my life. One said that my husband was in rebellion and out of the will of God because he had long hair and an earring. One said it was God's will that we should cast our son out because of his sin. One said that asking for prayer because of financial troubles was the same as begging for money. One said that when we set the chairs up for Sunday service they had to be excactly 2 inches apart because most of the people in the congregation were white. Go figure.
You say don't bring it up? I say, what's it to you what I bring up or don't bring up.
I have never accused you personally, on this blog, or to any one of our aquaintences for saying anything that you didn't say. I have never quoted you, therefore I have never misquoted you. I do not believe I have ever mentioned your name, the name of your Church or the name of the pastor of your church - a man I have a lot of respect for - by name in any of my articles. Why do you keep on doing this sort of thing? Like I said on your blog, this blog isn't about you.

Maryellen
You bring all of this up purposely. Spare me the feigned innocence.
One is in rebellion because one wants to lead, but isn't able to be a follower first.
As I said you opened the door for this. I can comment if I want and you can delete them all if you want.

I personally would prefer that you didn't delete, not that you have shown an inclination to (nor do I have any weight on the matter), as sometimes after reading all of these serious debates the brief break from intelligent discourse can bring some comic relief.

Chris P. - In the same comment above quoted I must say you seriously lack manners. Technically you could walk into her house and start trashing the place if you wanted and she could call the cops if she so desired. Does it make it right, or polite to do so?

It seems to me (and I am making it painfully clear that I paraphrase how I read it, and am not putting words in her mouth) that she is rather nicely asking you to recognize that the world does not revolve around you, and as such not to bring up these bogus defensive arguments in regards to attacks that aren't being made. Further, she seems to indicate her right in her domain to bring up anything she chooses without clearing it with you first.

"Who might this pastor be? Of course you won't say,as christians are famous for bringing up that 'other' church or pastor from somewhere out there, but we aren't going to mention names.

First, again, your say means nothing in regards to the format and opinions she expresses. Second, coming from a man who has anonymously quoted others to further his own agenda on his own blog, what leg are you standing on?

Finally: "You bring all of this up purposely."

No kidding. Am I the only one who laughed out loud at this comment? I know comics see the world differently, but I couldn't get past the alternative you imply that she might in fact be posting accidently? She dropped her mug on the keyboard and complete paragraphs accidentally came out and posted themselves? Does this happen often to you? Of course she said it on purpose. Yet you, lacking any divine sight, haven't the power to state in certainty what that purpose was. So it is neither a sensible statement, nor a defendable point.

I seriously love these comments. I seriously hope MaryEllen gets as many free laughs as I do.
