God's Will

another response to a comment (see Queen for A Day)
the question - wouldn't God reveal His will for us...what He would have us do...
of course He would...of course He did
my three favorites:
1 Thessalonians 5: 15 - 18
James 1:27
Micah 6:8
There are others, and room for much discussion. However, at this point, as I indicated below. My tired old computer is not cooperating with me...

Actually this last thought. Are these the only representations of God's will in the entire Scripture?
If sound doctrine and its defense are non-essentiuals why did Jesus and the apostles and prophets spend so much time doing that?

Do you belong to some sect of christianity that holds stupidity and hard headedness up as virtue? Is that why you try so hard to demonstrate it? Perhaps I missed the beattitude that said, "Blessed are they who can't read, for they will have a direct hotline to God."

Try this direct quote from the post you are commenting so foolishly on: "There are others, and room for much discussion. However, at this point, as I indicated below. My tired old computer is not cooperating with me..."

So, um, the answer would be no. These aren't the only ones. She just said that, genius. It wasn't a long post (shorter than this comment) you weren't able to read it to the end?

"If sound doctrine and its defense are non-essentiuals why did Jesus and the apostles and prophets spend so much time doing that?"

If the Toyota Corolla has bad gas mileage, why have several people I have known driven them? Fail to see the corrolation? Great, now we are even.

Nobody proposed your premise (that's the part after the 'if' and before the missing comma) here, so where did this even come from?

MaryEllen - Good verses and interesting aspects to address. It would seem, though, that you might be somewhat in agreement with me here. If God's will is so illustrated, in means that we can understand, we can discuss His will in regards to rational logic, can we not?

God reveals his will in many ways. I like the ones you have chosen and they are among my favorites (and at times quite difficult to obey). I believe God also reveals his will to us by the prompting of his Holy Spirit, through other people and through life circumstances. I too have no idea what chris p.'s comment regarding sound doctrine has to do with this post unless he is underscoring the fact that hopefully God's will is (or should be) part of sound doctrine.

Wanderer you are a fool.
I am addressing Maryellen based on a longstanding relationship and debate that we have had. You know nothing about it all. I know here she is heading with htis.
Is being nosy a virtue among the pagans?
Stay out of the argument. You don't believe the Scriptures or in the God who wrote them, therefore you have nothing to offer as far as I am concerned.

Chris P. - I am a fool? When you tell me to stay out of an argument that she has always invited me back into every time you say this? They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So tell me to butt out again and then check with your shrink.

Is being nosy a virtue amongst us? No. Am I being nosy when I take part in a forum that I was invited to by the moderator? No.

"I am addressing Maryellen based on a longstanding relationship and debate that we have had. You know nothing about it all. I know here she is heading with htis."

First of all, your history of conversation mean nothing when you post in a public forum and leave the basis for your comments out of it. My not realizing that you spoke of something not written here only points to foolishness on my part if I didn't realize that you consistently reply to things not being said at the time. As I pointed out, I did realize this.

You say you know where she was going with this. So you used your psychic powers to address what she hasn't said yet, rather than acting all human and rational and discussing what was said? Who is the fool here?

You asked her whether she believed something contradictory to what she actually said. Then you made a comment the premise for which could not be found in the writing. Which of us, then is the fool here?

It is good that you are far from the only christian I know. Your incapability of rational thinking would otherwise incline me to think much more poorly about your brethren.
