I don't think this verse, or the verses that identify God as loving, talk about a mushy, shallow, blind love, as in when young girls fall in love with the wrong men...and obviously from 1 Corinthians 13, love is honest and wants only the best for those loved, therefore open rebuke, done in love, is better than a love that lets the loved one get away with anything...when my sons were infants, i had them vacinated...these were wounds done in love, and the refiners fire always burns...friends may wound, but what kind of friend would wound in love and then walk away from the wounded? I am thinking of a crying and wounded child, the parent tries to comfort, and sometimes has to hold firmly, until the child calms down, before the true comfort can be given...a bad parent, might just push the child away and say, fine then, cry you big baby. God the father never lets go. However - the verses I posted are talking about a different type of love all together. Charity, good deeds if you will (see "Something to think about), we are not saved by works, yet the Bible says that this kind of love, loving kindness, charity, covers a multitude of sins. When my friend bridget refered to it, I wasn't even sure it was actually in the Bible, so I looked it up.

Wanderer, after reading your post I'm not sure we are taking this verse in a completely different context. The friend who quoted it seemed to be saying, that although she would doubt a particular person's salvation because of an "apparent" sin in her life, perhaps the "good deeds" or acts of Charity, love, that she committed somehow coverd those sins. I'm not even sure why I mentioned it. Just though it was interesting.
